How to be an expert.
I have always thought of self-improvement, like everyone else. However I have come to realize if you want to improve, you must start with the little things like brushing twice a day, starting journaling or simply start a blog like I am doing now. So now you might have guessed that this blog will be my life story and I will share my thoughts on life, people I meet, or simply share my journey of how I try to improve my life every day. Hope my blog will inspire at least one person enhance his life. I genuinely wish this new habit can increase my writing skills and who knows one day I may become a writer. “The goal is not to write but to become a writer” quoted from ATOMIC HABITS. To do something in life I think you should first believe that you can do it. Confidence plays a important role. If you genuinely love what you do you will naturally try to make it perfect and consequently you become a expert. For instance I liked photography though I didn't capture many outstanding photos initially. But one day I decided to believe that I could be a great photographer and committed to do whatever it took. With that mindset, I borrowed my friend's phone with a reputedly excellent camera and convinced another friend to be my model. After I obtaining the phone I held it, looked through it, in a way thinking how would a professional would do. I gave my full focus on what I was doing and was very vigilant for the right moment. I convinced my mind this is very important and my life depends on it and this determination overcame my laziness to bend and move around. I willingly embraced nervous like it were my final exam. So I tried to search my subconscious and extracted everything I heard about taking remarkable photos. I drew inspiration from all the movie dialogues, all the reels. Finally I took a couple photos. What to say she loved it and I loved it even more. I became proud of myself and tried to take more pictures and make it more perfect by asking myself how an artist would do. I have to say it was the perfect feeling with the perfect blend of pride and a sense of achievement. I continue to take more photos and more acknowledged my skills. I was not a good photographer but I became one by just believing.
You can be a expert in anything if you can have the courage to believe or at least act like you do and move forward with perseverance. That’s precisely what I am doing now. I suck at my grammar and my vocabulary is not something I am proud of. But regardless of the outcome I continue to write because I would become a great writer if I believe in my heart. Before writing all this I asked myself how would a professional writer write. He would obviously write the truth from his heart and that’s exactly what I did and now I feel incredible. So if you ever wanted to do anything in life no matter how hard it is just start doing it. Don’t think, just do it. Even if its one push up or read one page or watch one video just start doing because first step is the most difficult. Most people waste time just by thinking and thinking whether its worth the effort or should I do it. Stop doing things expecting anything in return. Some things in life that you wanted to do may not be have immediate rewards or you may not get significant benefit. For example learning something which is outside your field of study, or you want to sing but many told you don’t have a good voice and so you never sang in public because you think you would never ever become a professional singer and never make a living from it. My advise? Just Sing. What is there to lose and what if you don’t get a Grammy?. Just do for the love of it, regardless of the outcome and what you expect to get in return. Don’t even think twice. Just take the leap of faith. Be positive about everything you do and you would undoubtedly achieve it.
